The North Shore

Well, actually it was the south shore of the North Saskatchewan River where one can find the North Shore of E-town. Cam and I went exploring today on our mountain bikes. He showed me a trail on the south bank from 50th street east to Sunridge Ski Hill. It was obviously free riders territory - complete with (un-roll-able) drops and man made bridges, one measureing about- maybe- 50 meters!! Luckily we were "swimming up stream" so got to only peruse and not have to ride anything...yet. That is next on our agenda! We have our route planned, will take our full suspension bikes, maybe some armour and then give'er.

I finally gave into the latest trend. Lululemon. I resited for so long for a number of reasons:
1. Sweats are not meant to be worn to bars, restaurantss, on dates etc. but everyone seems to wear Lululemon everywhere.
2. If you need to wear a thong, your pants are not sweats or lounge wear.
3. Its a total fashion trend. Need I say more? Everyone wears Lululemon, yogi or not. Initially sold as yoga wear, I am sure that some hunnies I have seen in lulu pants do not do yoga. On that note - do people wear spandex shorts and jerseys everywhere even when they are not cycling? NO.

So despite the above I decided to see what all the fuss was about. $370.00 later, I am decked out! Never have jogging pant and hoodies looked so sassy. I couldn't resist. Man, that 4 way stretch could sell XTR to a bike racer!! And, to top it all off, I wore the tight, yoga inspired sports top to Costco this afternoon.

My purchases actually convinced me to throw away my warm-up pants from high school basketball, which Cam affectionatly calls "number 2," because of the large embroidered number on the right front pocket. Needless to say, Cam is pleased. I even asked him to do the honours and put them in the garbage.

Now we celebrate the loss of 13 yr old sports wear and lulu celebrates another yogi wannabe sucumbing to joys of 4 way stretch lounge wear. Perfect for the chaise....

Race # 1 done

So I had my first race on Sunday in Lethbridge. It was a tough race. The course was new and there was lots of climbing. There were only 2 elite women racing so the good news is I came in second! And won $80.00. I am disappointed with my time, I was quite far OTB (off-the-back) but I guess it is only the first race of the season! My competitor was the Canada Cup winner from the last two years, so it was tough competition.
On the bright side, my new bike was really fun to ride!
Well, hopefully the races improve...keep you posted.

The adjustment period

Well, so far so good. Cam and I are enjoying living together and we are learning each others quirks...actually,more like I am learning the quirks of the House (not house-"H"ouse).
Living with someone makes you realize how habitual your really are. For example, I never secure lids tightly on jugs, which Cam realized when he went to shake the OJ. From across the room I saw the spill in slow motion and thought "oops, shit" but then said "Cam! What did you do?" Well, we both knew instantly what really happened.
Then, I shoved the usual suspects down the drain after doing dishes, like lettuce and crumbs etc not realizing that it backs up the basement sink. When Cam asked me if I had shoved anything down the drain, my sly lie about only a little coffee grounds was foiled...the evidence was in the sink!
Then, there was breaking the washing machine...I didn't know that it always has to be on 'Heavy.' OK, I did, but I was only doing a small load....
Then, the fire alarm. There I was, innocently cooking when the fire alarm goes off. We (OK, I)had put it on the top of the cupboards above the stove when we were organizing the kitchen. It is actually NOT kept in the kitchen normally for reasons related to its sensitivity. Anyway, it is blaring and I had to climb on a chair, then onto the stove to get the *(&(*^^%ing thing down. How safe is that? and to think that I tell seniors when they are not safe to cook anymore! Now I have put it back where Cam normally keeps it...where it stays quiet!
Well, off to Lethbridge this weekend to wreck Janka's parent's house while I'm at it!!
...Oh yeah and to kick some ass...hopefully.

How to lose a guy in 10 days...

Actual conversation at work on Monday morning:
SA: Hi Tress, what's new?
TH: Not much, you?
SA: Moved in with Cam on the weekend.
TH: What?!! That is huge. You'll have to tell me all about it!
SA: Yeah, so far so good...I mean, he was AWAY all weekend, so basically I had HIS house all to myself. This moving in thing is pretty cool!
TH: He was away?? Did he know you were moving in?

....and that, my friends would NOT be the ideal situation when moving in with your boyfriend! Luckily, it was not "the surprise move in." It was planned. Nevertheless, Cam got home at 2:30 Monday morning to an obstacle course of boxes, bikes and ME!! I did feel a little like the girl on "how to lose a guy in 10 days" as I was taking over cupboards and drawers in the bathroom and filling them with my girly lotions and bath salts. Next week - pink toilet seat covers!

PS. If you see Auntie Vi....I live alone and always will...I mean, she is turning 90 this weekend, so lets not wreck it for her!
